España
Yesterday I walked across a bridge and into Spain. The border is the middle of the Minho River.
The Portuguese people were very cool and encouraging to all the walkers. The river current looked fast for kayaks, but I did see some rowers.
I started the Spanish part of the walk by stopping in a cafe.
Today the route ends in Arcade in Galicia on the banks of the River Verdogo. The Puente Sampaio Bridge dates from the Middle Ages, and cars, people and my fellow pilgrims still use it. It is interesting how car, trams, buses and people coexist on the narrow streets. I am still not used to cars actually stopping when I am in a crosswalk.
I don’t think this wooden pilgrim is going to make it to Santiago.
